Dr. Pillai is a recognized pioneer in the fields of Stereotactic & functional neurosurgery.
He joined the Department of Neurosurgery at the Amrita Institute of Medical Sciences as a resident in 2000, and later as a faculty in 2009.
He has experience in Paediatric Neurosurgery, Peripheral Nerve Surgery and Neurooncology.
Dr. Pillai’s formative years in medicine have enabled him to go across the motifs of surgery, medicine & clinical research, a very rare combination making him a successful surgeon cum clinical researcher. He holds extensive training behind his experience as a neurosurgeon, upon completing training in the United States and Canda.
He holds the record for being one of the first Neurosurgeons in the country to use robots in the applications of neurosurgery and stereo-ECG surgery.
He serves as the Director of Epilepsy, and is program director/ head for Functional Neurosurgery Fellowship at AIMS, Kochi.
